Wishing Well

Here's a big roped-off medallion at the center of the lobby. I'm guessing that change-throwers make a wish, or it could be good luck to try to land on their home parish. Or maybe the aim is to cast bad luck upon that one parish they really hate, which will happen if they manage to hit it with their change? (It's probably not that...)

I did take pictures of the state rightside-up, but I prefer the way the light through the glass lobby doors falls on the medallion from this angle. 

If I wanted to be especially cynical, I could have named this photo "The Wishing Well's Gone Dry." But things in Louisiana aren't *that* bad all across the board.
